New publication: ZTX® in vivo data contribute to the preclinical evaluation of Telomir-Zn in triple-negative breast cancer

BioReperia is pleased to share a newly published research article resulting from our collaboration with Telomir Pharmaceuticals and research partners.

The study, “Telomir-Zn Modulates Intracellular Iron and Copper to Inhibit JmjC Histone Demethylases and Suppress Tumor Growth in Prostate and Triple-Negative Breast Cancer,” investigates Telomir-Zn, a novel small-molecule modulator of intracellular iron and copper, across biochemical, cellular and in vivo cancer models.

As part of the study, BioReperia’s ZTX® platform was used to investigate the in vivo anti-tumor activity of Telomir-Zn in multiple triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) models.

The ZTX® studies revealed distinct treatment-response patterns across the TNBC models. After 3 days of treatment, Telomir-Zn significantly reduced primary tumor size in BT-549 xenografts, while combination treatment with paclitaxel exhibited a greater reduction than either monotherapy. In HCC1806 xenografts, Telomir-Zn significantly reduced primary tumor size and this effect was further increased in combination with paclitaxel. Furthermore, Telomir-Zn treatment significantly reduced metastatic dissemination of HCC1806 tumor cells. In contrast, MDA-MB-231 xenografts did not respond significantly to Telomir-Zn, paclitaxel, or their combination.

These findings demonstrate the value of evaluating therapeutic candidates across biologically distinct tumor models and measuring both primary tumor response and metastatic behavior in vivo.

The publication also marks an important milestone in the development journey of Telomir-Zn. Data generated using BioReperia’s ZTX® platform formed part of the broader preclinical evidence package submitted by Telomir Pharmaceuticals in support of its Investigational New Drug (IND) application for advanced and metastatic triple-negative breast cancer.

In April 2026, Telomir Pharmaceuticals announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had cleared the IND, enabling Telomir-Zn to advance into first-in-human clinical development.
